Data Operations Manager – Chile

The world’s largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data. Technology has revolutionised equity markets with electronic trading, quant algorithms, and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s: trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our client’s mission is to change this. Their proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal, and ESG data and analysis. Clients can make faster, more informed decisions, win more business, and most importantly, save time. Their fast‑growing list of clients includes nine of the top ten investment banks, leading asset managers, hedge funds, and law firms.

The Role

Our client is establishing a new Data Operations team in Santiago, Chile, to revolutionise their data approach. As a Data Operations Manager you will be a pivotal part of this initiative, overseeing a product vertical and guiding a team of entry‑level associates to ensure high‑quality, efficient data processing and continuous improvement. You will develop and implement the client’s growing data operations workflows and manage Data Operations Associates to:

  • Learn how to understand and navigate HTML, and use the client’s in‑house technology to automate publishing.
  • Monitor and review articles from the in‑house news aggregator, identifying price‑sensitive information.
  • Understand new deal terms and structures, acting fast to alert clients to developments.
  • Track financial results publication.
  • Track and record Empresa earnings calls, ensuring high‑quality interactive transcripts are quickly available to clients.

Financials: Proprietary software extracts financial information from any document. You will manage associates to:

  • Stay aware of ongoing financial reporting for thousands of companies and update clients with key metrics swiftly.
  • Use technology to extract tables from financial documents.
  • Complete extraction validation to ensure high accuracy and data quality.
  • Map newly reported numbers onto existing financials, building a timely, accurate picture of a Empresa’s health.
  • Tag specific financial terms to provide a standardised, comparable set across the platform.
  • Create and maintain capitalization tables for all companies in the coverage universe.

This role reports to the Head of Data Operations and collaborates closely with the Credit team in New York and London, who perform credit analysis on leveraged finance issuers.

What You’ll Work On
  • Team leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to associates, ensuring seamless workflow management, prioritisation, and achievement of expectations.
  • Player‑coach: Balance lead duties with hands‑on support when required.
  • Workflow development: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to design and optimise data processing workflows, focusing on speed and accuracy.
  • Quality assurance: Oversee implementation of quality control measures to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Project management: Coordinate and manage data‑operations projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business goals.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross‑functional teams to understand data needs and streamline delivery.
  • Performance monitoring: Track and evaluate team metrics, identify improvement areas, and implement enhancement strategies.
  • Training and development: Conduct sessions, nurture skill growth, and facilitate professional development.
About You
  • Financial awareness: Experience and interest in financial markets, familiarity with statements, data extraction tools, HTML, and financial data software.
  • Leadership: Strong team‑management skills gained in similar environments, driving high performance and fostering collaboration.
